CAN WE MAKE LAZY PEOPLE PRODUCTIVE?
Can flogging a dead horse make it get up and gallop?
Is it the job of Management to find out the weak areas in associates and get them to improve on it?
Will the associates drink this “productivity improvement” water?
How is individual performance measured? Is there a benchmark? Is it transparent and open to all associates?
This is not a question of democracy. It is of Growth, scale and getting a team with the right resources.
A sales resource may be good at his job but not interact with others. An associate may be a good individual performer but suck at being a team lead (despite repeated training/coaching attempts).
Is it a question of laziness, of competence or the lack of it, of zero willingness to improve and contribute to the company’s goal…?
Base talent can be sharpened and honed. What about base lethargy? The feeling that I’ve done what I want to, as opposed to what I can or what I am supposed/expected to do.
Laziness in corporates is a dangerous disease as it spreads quickly. With each resource copying another to execute clearly the Minimum required work that will pass below the radar of the manager.
It needs a cure from within. Management can assist in certain cases. For chronically though, a purge is required.
As lazy people will never be productive.
